"It is difficult to overstate the importance of this commission," Gov. Dave Freudenthal said, when announcing his appointments to the Commission. "Health care and health insurance were topics I heard about all over the state throughout my campaign, especially in areas of availability, quality and price. These thirteen people will have a lot on their plates."
The Commission is co-chaired by Rex Arney and Larry Kirven, M.D.
Rex O. Arney (Co-chairman) is a former state legislator, a member of the Children and Families Initiative Advisory Board and the Wyoming Blue Cross Blue Shield Board, and Wyoming State Bar Foundation President.
Lawrence E. Kirven, M.D. (Co-chairman), a family practice physician from Buffalo who also serves on the Wyoming Medical Society Board of Trustees and is the president of the board of directors of the Mountain Pacific Quality Healthcare Foundation.
Rod Barton, Powell Valley Healthcare CEO, has nearly a quarter century of experience with hospital administration in Wyoming, Oregon, Utah, Colorado and Missouri.
Barbara Cohee, C&Y Transportation vice president, is secretary of the Casper Area Economic Development Association.
Andy Fitzgerald is Executive Vice President of Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. He has over twenty years of healthcare finance and administration experience, and has worked in large metropolitan hospitals with Humana in Dallas, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, and Denver, Colorado, as well as rural, independent hospitals in Wyoming and Oregon.
John "Jack" Glode, M.D., a Cheyenne cardiologist, is WIN Health Partners' Medical Director.
Cathy Guschewsky has been involved with the Fremont Motor Companies for 28 years and launched the Human Resource Department for the 325 Fremont employees. She is currently Vice Chair of the Lander Regional Hospital Board and serves on the Wyoming National Bank Board. She also founded Fremont Realty which she sold in 2004.
Barb Rea was the Wyoming Association of Nonprofit Organizations founding chair, served on the Wyoming Medical Center Ethics Forum, and was instrumental in developing several community health improvement programs in Casper, including the Children's Advocacy Project.
Lorraine Saulino-Klein, RN, of Laramie, has more than 34 years of community and family nursing experience, is in private practice and works for the Albany County School District.
John B. "Jack" Speight, a Cheyenne attorney, specializes in personal injury law and a founding partner in Speight, McCue & Associates.
John Vandel, Torrington pharmacy owner, is dean of the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy.
State Insurance Commissioner Ken Vines is an ex-officio member of the Commission.
Dr. Brent Sherard, Director, WDH is an ex-officio member of the Commission.
